Match your shield to your augment
Capacity, shield compatibility and specialist slots belong in the same decision.
In this guide · 5 sections
1Choose capacity for the objective
Augments define recorded backpack, quick-use and safe-pocket capacities, as well as a weight limit. Our advice: start with what you need to bring out, then decide how much room you need to leave for loot. More slots do not automatically make a kit better if the equipment is difficult to replace.

2Check shield compatibility
The augment details list supported shield types. Choose the augment first, then the shield. The loadout manager warns when a recorded pairing is incompatible. Do not assume an augment supports a heavy shield just because it has a large backpack.

3Read specialist slots separately
Healing, grenade, trinket and utility slots are recorded separately from the backpack and quick-use slots. They do not add unrestricted inventory space. The planner labels each section and keeps overflow visible when you switch to an augment with fewer slots.

4Leave a weight margin
The displayed subtotal includes only items with recorded weights. It is a planning estimate, not a live inventory measurement. Our advice: leave room for both loot and uncertainty. The official 2.0 notes also report loadout weight display differences between the menu and a raid.

5Keep a fallback kit
Save a second build with equipment you can replace. Our advice: use separate names for a quest run and an equipment-heavy run so you do not accidentally carry an expensive kit into a simple collection task. Safe-pocket item eligibility still needs an in-game check.
