HUNGER / GUIDE

Your first closed-beta expedition

Choose a Living, meet the Château NPCs, prepare your kit and queue for your first expedition.

Your first expedition checks

  1. 01

    Unlock your starting Living

The beta guide describes six available characters. Read their current abilities, use your Psyche Seed to unlock your starting character, then enter the Château hub. Server availability is required to enter; a closed-beta invitation alone does not guarantee that servers are online at every moment.

  2. 02

    Complete Eloise’s first quest

The developer lists Eloise’s first quest as a prerequisite for queuing for an expedition. Speak to NPCs with a quest-available icon, read the objectives and rewards, track them in Journal (J), then return to the giver to hand them in. Completing an objective is not the same as claiming its reward.

  3. 03

Prepare with Louis and the vendors

Louis opens the Stash; item and weapon storage have separate tabs. Double-click to move items. Shops also support double-click buying or selling, with right-click for specific quantities. If you need a starter weapon, Louis’s “I’ve hit a rough patch…” dialogue provides the free variant.

  4. 04

    Use the rotating Expedition Finder

Speak to Reynauld and open Expedition Finder. Choose a currently available map and Start Expedition. The beta guide says availability rotates every few hours; its known-issues list warns that a map can show zero minutes remaining while still open. Our map catalogue is not a live rotation feed.

  5. 05

Keep the objective and exit together

HUNGER mixes rival Living and infected enemies. Start with a clear quest, resource or learning goal, keep medicine equipped, and watch for active extraction balloons. A completed extraction countdown only makes you eligible to leave; every player must still interact with the balloon.

Make the first run easy to evaluate

WDguide planning advice

Pick one goal

Choose an early quest, a short collection task or a return-focused learning run. A single goal makes it easier to know when to leave.

Take a replaceable kit

Check the basic recovery action, ammunition needs and carrying space before leaving. Keep the most expensive spare equipment for a run whose demands you understand.

Review the result

After returning, note which supply or action caused trouble. Change that part of the plan before adding another objective.
