What was the original Early Access version?

The original progression structure

  1. 01

    Choose a starting identity

Warrior, Ranger, Witch, Sorceress, Mercenary and Monk each offered two Ascendancies. The class established your starting point, while the large passive tree allowed further customisation.

  2. 02

    Complete the launch campaign

The launch journey consisted of three Acts followed by Cruel difficulty. This repeated-campaign structure belongs to the original version; later Act and Interlude additions changed it.

  3. 03

    Move into endgame development

Endgame extended into new areas, crafting and boss encounters. WDguide advice: use this archive to understand the release context, then choose a later version’s guide for an actual character plan.

The starting point

Six classes

The launch roster contained Warrior, Ranger, Witch, Sorceress, Mercenary and Monk, each with two Ascendancies.

The launch campaign

Three Acts were followed by Cruel difficulty before entering endgame. Later versions replaced this progression structure.

Passive character building

The large connected passive tree let players customise their character beyond its starting class.
